Exuma
Day 1: After arriving at Georgetown’s small airport on Exuma, rent your car and settle into your lodging where you will be for your entire stay on this amazing island.
Day 2: On your first full day, explore some of the best of Exuma‘s beaches. Check the tide table before you drive off to make sure to time your visit to Coco Plum Beach during low tide. Coco Plum is a gorgeous beach, but the best part is that at low tide you can walk all the way out to a small island. As you walk, you will hear the crunching under your feet of the many sand dollars that frequent the area. At the small island, there is a bit of coral, so you can do some snorkeling if you brought your gear. Either before or after your visit to Coco Plum, depending on the tides, visit nearby Flamingo Beach. Day 3: Just a short boat ride from Great Exuma, Stocking Island is a must on even the shortest of visits to Exuma. Make sure to get a map of Stocking Island at the tourism office in Georgetown and bring plenty of water with you if you plan to do any hiking. At the government dock ask for Elvis, who runs the water taxi. There isn’t much on Stocking Island, but that is the real beauty of it. Just miles of hiking trails and deserted beaches. Afterwards, catch the water taxi back to Exuma. Day 4: After breakfast, take a drive south across the bridge to the island of Little Exuma to explore more beautifully empty beaches. You’ll first come to Pretty Molly Beach, which unabashedly lives up to its name. A little further down the road, the Tropic of Cancer Beach is another lovely stretch of sand that, as its name suggests, lies on the northern tropic. After enjoying these wonderful beaches return to your lodging for your last night on Exuma. Day 5: Say goodbye to this island paradise as you depart on your return flight home. |
